Atlético Malagueño comes home from Maracena with a draw

The Blue and Whites’ second team brings a point home from their visit to Granada following a 2-2 draw against UD Maracena. The ‘Malaguistas’ took the lead thanks to a goal from Calero and another from Iván from the centre of the pitch, however Maracena got on the score board right at the end of the first half, and equalised after 77 minute thanks to Moi.

It looked as though Atlético Malagueño was going to put an end to the run of away defeats, and as usual, got off to a strong start.  Calero, from inside the area, gained possession from a Mula free kick after the ball rebounded off the post, and sent the ball to the back of the net two minutes into play.
The Blue and Whites’ reserve team controlled the match and went all out to try and increase their lead.  Iván Rodríguez tried his luck from midfield and surprised the goalkeeper when he found the net and put his team 2-0 in front in minute 15.
Following a number of opportunities for both sides, Maracena scored in the last minute of the first half, thanks to a set piece which Alfonso, from a dubious position, converted into a goal.
The so-called psychological goal took effect and the first minutes of the second half were dominated by the local side.  In minute 77 Moi took advantage of a great assist to level up the score board.
Ten minutes before the final whistle came the controversy.  In an Atlético Malagueño free kick, Calero was fouled by the local keeper, who was subsequently shown the yellow card and a penalty awarded to the visitors.  However seconds later, at the request of the assistant referee, the penalty was disallowed for being offside.
There was no time left to try and change the result, and this draw puts the reserve team temporarily in second place in the table with 43 points, with the rest of the games taking place tomorrow, Sunday.  Next weekend Atlético Malagueño will welcome another direct rival in the fight for play-off positions, CD Huétor Tájar, who tomorrow host Atlético Melilla.
