The homegrown defender will remain with Málaga Club de Fútbol until 2029 and will be officially registered with the first team starting from the 2026/27 season.
Ángel Recio Gutiérrez (Fuengirola, Málaga, 2003) is one of the many Málaga players developed at the MCF Academy who has progressed through the Club’s youth system.
Coming from Athletic Fuengirola, Recio joined the club’s youth ranks in 2013. His development through the teams, from Alevín to the Juvenil category, was steady, thanks to his competitiveness and high performance level.
It was in the 2021/22 season that the centre-back, then part of the División de Honor Juvenil ‘A’ side, made his debut for Atlético Malagueño in the final stretch of the campaign under Juan Francisco Funes.
With the current first-team coach, he shared the following seasons and became one of the team’s leaders both on the pitch and in the dressing room. Already serving as Malagueño’s captain, he was a key figure in the promotion to Segunda Federación in the 24/25 season.
In the current 25/26 campaign, Recio has made his debut for Málaga in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, featuring so far in seven matches (six as a starter, playing the full 90 minutes) with notable performances and determination.
Defensive solidity, leadership ability, strong ball distribution and competitive maturity, combined with a sense of belonging after more than a decade in the Academy, add even more identity to the squad, and project Ángel Recio, at 23 years of age, as a player with a strong present and a promising future.
With this contract extension until 2029, the Club secures the continuity of a centre-back destined to remain a key figure in Málaga CF’s sporting development in the coming seasons. Congratulations, Recio!
