Málaga CF, under the current name, played their first match 20 years ago, on 4th September 1994 in the Third Division against AD Adra. Juanma Sánchez was the first player to score a goal for the Club under the new name, with Antonio Benítez in the dugout, which resulted in promotion to Second Division B at the end of the season, following 99 goals and no defeats.

With a two-goal disadvantage in the second half, Malagueño began to dominate possession and following a goal from Rufo came close to an equaliser, but they came home from Ciudad de Martos without any points.

Despite a goalless first half, with Javi Gracia’s men creating the best goal opportunities, the situation remained the same in the second half. Juanmi scored a perfectly legal goal in minute 62, but the referee declared it offside, even though he was in a completely correct position.
