Málaga Club de Fútbol youth academy player, José Luis Zalazar, ‘Kuki’ was one of the key players in the under-17s qualification to the elite round of the European championship in Bulgaria. The boys finished first in the group following the mini-tournament held in Slovakia which kicked off last Friday until today, coming up against Lithuania (2-1), Luxembourg (0-3) and host team, Slovakia (3-1).

Children were the stars of Málaga CF’s match against Rayo Vallecano. As part of the II Children’s Day celebrations, and with the collaboration of provincial government, 5,000 children enjoyed last Sunday’s game at La Rosaleda. Various activities, games and workshops took place before kick-off, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the young ‘Malaguista’ fans, who brought a special colour and vitality to the day.

The youngest member of Málaga CF’s first team, Samu Castillejo is improving with every match. Last Sunday he was a key part of the Blue and Whites’ victory over Rayo Vallecano. Following his contract renewal last week, Castillejo spoke to Málaga CF TV about his first steps from playing football in the street with his friends, to achieving his dream of making his debut at La Rosaleda: “I’m a part of the team I’ve dreamed about since I was a child, and I hope to be with Málaga CF for a long time to come.”

This is a positive step forward for us as it was an important win in front of our fans. It was a full house at La Rosaleda, which is fantastic, and we’re thrilled we played well for the crowd.”

Atlético Malagueño defeated Atarfe Industrial Club by 1-4 in today’s 10th Third Division Group 9 match of the season. The Blue and Whites were 0-1 up at the end of the first half, thanks to a goal from Rufo. Ernesto Gómez scored in the second half, along with Atarfe’s Raúl, an Almohano own goal and Atlético Malagueño’s Ernesto Cornejo. This result leaves the Blue and Whites’ reserve team with 18 points. The boys are up against Villacarrillo CF next week.

President, Abdullah Al Thani was accompanied by Club advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar, Antonio Benítez and Ben Barek, along with director general, Vicente Casado; deputy director general, Manuel Novo and sporting director, Mario Husillos. On behalf of the visitors, President Raúl Martín Presa was in attendance, along with a Club director. Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre was also present for this match.

Málaga Club de Fútbol defeated Rayo Vallecano by an impressive 4-0 in today’s 9th BBVA League game of the season at La Rosaleda. In front of a capacity crowd, the Blue and Whites practically sealed their victory in the first half as they kept up a pacey rhythm of play. Javi Gracia’s team opened the scoring early on as a fantastic shot into goal from Samu in minute 5 put the home side up 1-0. Sergi Darder then increased the lead by 2-0 following a strong display on the left wing, and a subtle touch by Juanmi put Málaga CF 3-0 up just before half-time. An Amrabat penalty – after a foul committed on him by the rival – sealed the match with a 4-0 lead for the Blue and Whites. A minute’s silence was held before kick-off in memory of Juan Cortés. This match coincided with the II Children’s Day celebrations.
