Málaga Club de Fútbol drew 1-1 with Athletic Club in this evening’s 20th BBVA League game of the season at the Nuevo San Mamés stadium. The first half ended in a goalless draw, however the ‘Malaguistas’ generated the best chance to open the scoring thanks to impressive play from Javi Guerra and Samu Castillejo. In the second half San José put the local side in front following a corner kick in minute 70. Málaga CF focused on a stronger attack after conceding a goal, and in minute 77 their strategy paid off as Javi Guerra scored his debut goal for the Blue and Whites to make it 1-1. The draw gives the team a morale boost ahead of next week’s Copa del Rey quarter-final return leg.
