The Peña Malaguista in Archidona rewards Juanpi

The Blue and Whites’ playmaker was named best player of last season by fans in the Málaga municipality, and was presented with 68 litres of oil, his weight in liquid gold.

Juanpi’s quality and sacrifice was recognised on Tuesday 25th October by Malaguista fans at the supporters’ club in Archidona, which celebrated its 8th birthday yesterday.  Honoured and applauded on his arrival in Archidona, the first team player was presented with the ‘Malaguista of the Year’ award, as the best Blue and Whites’ player of 2015/16, by president of the peña, David Córdoba.

Juanpi, who didn’t stop signing autographs and posing for photos with over 200 fans at the event, is delighted with the recognition: “It’s a great honour for me to be chosen as the best player of last season”.  He then stepped on the scales to receive his weight in liquid gold, courtesy of the peña, as is tradition every time a first team player visits Archidona.

In previous years, Willy Caballero, Camacho and Kameni, amongst others, have stepped on these scales.  This year it was the turn of the young Málaga CF midfielder.  68 kilos, equating to 68 litres of oil for one of the idols of Malaguismo: “I would like to thank the people of Archidona for the warm welcome, and for this award”, says Juanpi to MCFTV.

Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar, who accompanied the footballer on his visit to Archidona, presented the president of the peña with a Málaga CF shirt, signed by Juanpi, and thanked the fans in Archidona for their support of the Blue and Whites.
