Solé, ex CD Málaga player, passes away

Málaga Club de Fútbol expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Agustín Solé Peiró, the ex CD Málaga player, who passed away the day before yesterday in his home city of Lleida. Rest in peace.

Agustín Solé Peiró, was born on 4th February 1927 (Puigverd, Lleida), a midfielder who started to play football with his local team, and later moved to Sección Deportiva de La España Industrial, the club that had just been affiliated with FC Barcelona.  He was with this club for 8 seasons, going on to play in the regional category, as well as the Second Division in 1952/53.

It was in 1953 when he signed to CD Málaga, at the time in the Second Division, making his debut on 20/09/1953 at Ma Rosaleda against España de Tánger, ending in a Malaguista victory by 3-1. That season he played 21 League games, plus another 10 First Division promotion play-offs, resulting in CD Málaga’s third promotion, achieved at the San Juan stadium in Pamplona, against CA Osasuna.  During thesd play-offs, with Málaga now promoted, he scored his only goal as a Malaguista, against UE Lleida.

Solé’s only season in the First Division with CD Málaga saw him also play 21 matches.  The following season, 1955/56, with CD Málaga in the Second Division, he only played 1 token match.  At the end of that season, he signed to UE Lleida.

As a CD Málaga player, he took part in 53 official matches, scoring 1 goal.  At 89 years of age, Solé was the only remaining Malaguista player alive.  Farewell Agustín.
