Sheila: “I hope to help get the Club to where it deserves to be”

We look under the microscope at the new member of Málaga Femenino to learn more about her.

Sheila Guijarro arrived on the Costa del Sol from UD Levante with the aim of reinforcing the attack on the Blue and Whites’ women’s team. We take a closer look at the player to see how her journey began in the world of football, her hopes for the season and her new phase with Málaga.

When did you first start playing football?

I started playing at seven years old with the team from my town. I always went to watch my brother play, until one day I joined in and loved it. I said I wanted to play, and from then on, I’ve been linked to this sport.

You’re starting a new stage of your career with Málaga CF, why did you choose here?

I received a call from Antonio Contreras and he told me about such an exciting project. From that point on, I knew this would be my next destination.

What can you bring to the team?

I can bring experience. I arrived in the First Division in 2012 as a girl, and becoming a woman, I have the same desire and enthusiasm I’ve always had. I’m a hard worker and always have a smile on my face.

In regard to Antonio Contreras, the new Málaga CF Femenino coach, have you worked with him? How would you define him?

I think Antonio is a man who lives football 100%. He’s very demanding and brings out the full potential of a player. Antonio is a coach whom I’ve learned from and from whom I want to keep learning.

What do you expect from the 2017-18 season?

I hope to continue growing personally and professionally and enjoying it, but above all, I hope to get this great Club to where it deserves to be, which is the Liga Iberdrola.
