Play with ONCE on the 75th anniversary of La Rosaleda

ONCE dedicates its draw on Wednesday 28th September to the Martiricos stadium’s birthday.

The MCF Foundation and the National Organisation for the Blind in Spain (ONCE) presented a special coupon at the Blue and Whites’ stadium today, to commemorate 75 years of La Rosaleda.  The first official match at the Malaguista stadium took place on 28th September 1941, between CD Málaga and Xerez FC.

Present at today’s event were the director of ONCE in Málaga, José Miguel Luque; Mayor of the capital, Francisco De la Torre; Head of Sports and Events in Málaga, José del Río; delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports in the province, María Monsalud Bautista; deputy of Sports, Cristóbal Ortega; Málaga CF Club advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar, Antonio Benítez and Abdallah Ben Barek; as well as members of the ONCE Málaga indoor football team.

In total, five and a half million coupons bearing the image of the Blue and Whites’ stadium are in circulation, which will be on sale all over Spain.  Priced at 1,50 euros, the daily ONCE coupon offers 55 prizes of 35,000 euros for five numbers.  Also, for 2 euros, you can play to win ‘La Paga’ - 3,000 euros a month for 25 years, in addition to the 35,000-euro prize.

José Miguel Luque, director of ONCE in Málaga

“On behalf of ONCE, we’re thrilled with this coupon that we’ve designed with much affection.  It conveys great strength and energy.  We wanted to capture the image of the Club, and we believe it is representative of the Entity and transmits a sense of openness and space, with the team’s colours in the background.  This team is the emblem of the city, so it had to be a coupon that we’re all proud of.  The 75th anniversary of a stadium doesn’t happen every day, it’s a great honour.”

Francisco De la Torre, Mayor of Málaga

“I’m delighted that ONCE focuses on these details of Málaga, which they have done on more than one occasion, dedicating coupons to significant times and events in Málaga.  Once again they are showing their sensitivity and intelligence in relation to Málaga sports.”

Marcelo Rosado, captain of the ONCE Málaga indoor football team for the blind

“For us it’s an extra motivation to work and have Málaga’s support.  We value it a great deal.  We’ve spoken with other teams who compete in the Liga Nacional, who are trying to form agreements and gain support from teams in other cities that often don’t materialise, whereas we have immense support from Málaga CF.”
