Pablo’s historical debut with Spain

Blue and Whites’ midfielder, Pablo Fornals makes his debut with Spain’s first team in an international friendly between Spain-Bosnia.

Pablo, having been with the Spain team since Monday, forms part of a list of 11 ‘support’ players to the main line-up – 25 players, two will be dropped – by coach, Vicente del Bosque, ahead of the upcoming Euro championships.  Pablo debuted with ‘La Roja’ today, Sunday 29th May, an historic day for both the Castellón-born player, and the Martiricos Club.

Spain defeated Bosnia by 3-1 in Saint Gallen (Switzerland), in the first preparation friendly for the European Championships, taking place between June and July in France.  Cádiz-born winger, Nolito scored the first two goals for Spain (11’ and 18’).  Former Sevilla defender, Spahic reduced the difference (29’) and Bosnia were left with a player down after he was sent off (45’).  83 minutes into the game and Del Bosque introduced Pablo Fornals to debut for his country, the 68th player debut during his time heading up the national team.

The Malaguista, wearing the number ‘24’ shirt, came on in place of Athletic’s Mikel San José.  Pablo took part in the final stages of play, which had a happy ending thanks to a third Spain goal from Tenerife-born striker, Pedro Rodríguez (3-1, 90’).  Pablo, as an attacking midfielder, had presence and participation in every minute he played.  After debuting recently with the under-21s, it exemplifies the excellent work undertaken in recent seasons by the MCF Academy.
