Nobody can against this Málaga (4-2)

Málaga CF defeated Sevilla FC at La Rosaleda in the 35th LaLiga Santander match. Fornals, Sandro, Llorente and Juankar scored the goals to secure an extraordinary victory.

There was a gala atmosphere at Martiricos for this match, in which Míchel selected a starting-11 with the new additions of Ontiveros and Jony on the attack, in relation to the previous Andalusian derby against Granada. The match kicked off with great intensity, with a well-positioned Málaga against a Sevilla who remained faithful to their vertical style, implemented by coach, Jorge Sampaoli. In 19’, the minute chosen by fans to cheer on Sandro, the striker sent out a warning to the rival with a distant shot towards the target.

The team generated further approaches to Sergio Rico’s area, with an active Málaga on the right wing formed by Luis Muñoz and Javi Ontiveros. However, it was Sevilla who opened the scoring with a rapid action woven by Ben Yedder and Franco Vázquez, allowing the Argentinean to net the first goal of the game arriving on the second line (0-1, 30’).

In the 37th minute, Sevilla narrowly missed a second goal, pitting Correa against Kameni in a one-on-one. Immediately afterwards, the locals equalised. A spectacular goal from Pablo Fornals in front of the area, to remove the cobwebs from the rival goal (1-1, 38’). The sixth LaLiga goal for the Blue and Whites’ midfielder. With the sweet taste of a goal, the referee signalled half-time.

As the second half got underway, a familiar face appeared. Sandro, powerful and pacey, won the ball from Pareja and outwitted Rico to bring La Rosaleda to its feet (2-1, 51’). The 13th goal for the Canaries-born striker this season. However, Sevilla levelled up shortly after with a second goal for Vázquez (2-2, 57’). A minute later, Míchel brought on Juankar in place of Jony on the left profile of the attack.

Correa, with a good run in 67’, evidenced Sevilla’s need for victory. In 71’, Kameni went all out with a double save just before the second Malaguista substitution, which saw Miguel Torres replace an ‘injured’ Fede Ricca (72’). An extremely focused Málaga boldly confronted their adversary at all times. And it was effective. An imperial Llorente headed the ball into the back of the net from a Sandro free kick (3-2, 77’).

In the 87th minute, Keko replaced Ontiveros, and a minute later, Sandro forced a penalty that he himself took. Rico saved the shot, but Juankar, very attentive on the rebound, sentenced the match in front of the ecstatic crowd (4-2, 89’). The third consecutive LaLiga win for the Blue and Whites and 42 points to move to 12th place in the table. Vamos Málaga!
