Málaga Club de Fútbol and Samu Castillejo (Barcelona, 18/01/95) have reached an agreement for the player to stay with the Blue and Whites until 2017/18. The Martiricos outfit has renewed Castillejo’s contract during the season when at just 19 years old, he made his official debut with the first team following great success in La Academia.

Málaga Club de Fútbol sends deepest condolences to the family and friends of Juan Cortés, who passed away this afternoon aged 83. Cortés was a dedicated journalist who played a fundamental role in the development of ‘Malagueño’ footballing history, under all of Málaga’s team names. General Secretary and manager of CD Málaga, Juan Cortés knew better than anyone how to transmit the ‘Malaguista’ history due to his amazing memory. It’s because of this, and Málaga CF’s deep sense of loss following the death of Juan Cortés, that he will remain an eternal part of Blue and Whites’ history.

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Málaga’s Provincial Government presented the II Children’s Day today, taking place on Sunday to coincide with Málaga CF’s match against Rayo Vallecano. Tickets for this game are priced at 5 euros for children, and there are numerous events taking place throughout the week aimed at youngsters. Club advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar, Antonio Benítez and Ben Barek attended today’s press conference, along with Provincial Culture and Sports Delegate, Juan Jesús Bernal.

Blue and Whites’ midfielder, Ignacio Camacho took part in a press conference this morning at Málaga’s provincial government headquarters, to promote the II Children’s Day taking place on Sunday, coinciding with the Málaga CF – Rayo Vallecano match, and to talk about the team: “We’re a large squad and we all need to be match-ready. We performed well at the weekend, and maintained a high level of play. We now need to stay focused and work as hard as possible as we need to give 100% against Rayo.”

Teams in Málaga Club de Fútbol’s youth ranks achieved the following results in matches last weekend. Despite conceding an early goal, Atlético Malagueño defeated CD Ronda by 2-1 thanks to goals from Álex Portillo and Rufo.

Another victory for Atlético Malagueño against CD Ronda puts them in a higher position in the table. The visitors opened the scoring in minute 4 of play with an impressive goal from Chikini in front of the area, but Atlético Malagueño turned the result around with goals from set pieces; Álex Portillo with a free kick and Rufo following a corner.

The Málaga-born striker, who opened the scoring in tonight’s game following an outstanding pass from Camacho, scored the 1,200th goal in Málaga CF’s history: “It was really lucky I scored this goal, the 1,200th Málaga CF goal, but more than scoring a goal – I’m pleased with our victory.”
