On 22nd August 1999, Málaga CF played their first match in the First Division, under the current name. Fifteen years later, the Blue and Whites celebrated their 500th First Division game in the Spanish footballing elite, against Getafe CF. José María Movilla, who played in that first match, along with Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar remember the debut that started an historic era.

Blue and Whites’ player, Nordin Amrabat has been chosen to take part in two friendlies with Morocco, against the Central African Republic and Kenya, on 9th and 13th October respectively.

Former Málaga CF coach, Ismael Díaz, who achieved Second Division promotion with the Blue and Whites in 1997/98, was surrounded by many friends and colleagues at the presentation. Antonio Tapia, López Nieto, Málaga CF adviser, Antonio Benítez; sporting director at the Club, Mario Husillos; and the current coach, Javi Gracia were all in Málaga at the presentation of his book: ‘Dirigir equipos, el arte del estratega’ (‘Managing teams, the art of the strategist.’)

Juan Miguel Jiménez López ‘Juanmi’ held a press conference this morning to talk about his contract extension with Málaga Club de Fútbol. The Coín-born ‘Malaguista’ striker is signed to the Blue and Whites until the 2017/18 season: “I’m very happy and I’d like to thank the Club for their faith in me. I want to keep growing as a player here at this Club, as they’ve given me everything since I was a child. I want to continue defending this shirt with pride.”

The Blue and Whites were back in training this Tuesday morning at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium, with the good news that Antunes returned to the group having overcome his injury problems.

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s Roberto Rosales and Juan Pablo Añor 'Juanpi' have been selected to join Venezuela’s national team for a plan of work from 5th to 15th October. Juanpi was previously called-up to the country’s first team for a similar event in February.

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Juan Miguel Jiménez López ‘Juanmi’ (Coín, 20/05/1993) have reached an agreement for the Málaga-born player to remain with the Blue and Whites for another three seasons. Juanmi made his first team debut in 2009/10 at just 16 years of age, and despite being so young, is now in his sixth year with the ‘Malaguista’ first team.

Teams in Málaga CF’s youth ranks achieved the following match results over the weekend, amongst them Atlético Malagueño’s victory in their visit to Huétor Tájar. The only defeat of the weekend was the ‘Juvenil División de Honor’ boys by Recreativo de Huelva by 0-1.
