Míchel: “We want to continue winning and being consistent”

The Málaga CF coach affirms his team “is going through a good moment. We can’t take our foot off the accelerator”.

Good moment

“I don’t know what Celta or their coach will be thinking, but I do know what Málaga will be thinking, their coach, the players, what we have said and what we’ve seen. We can’t take our foot off the accelerator. The team is at a good moment now, we don’t want to stop, so will continue doing what we’re doing in the matches. With maximum respect to the rival, and with maximum intentions on our part. We want to continue winning and showing that the team is capable of achieving these results, as we’re focused on being consistent in LaLiga, this year and next”.

#MálagaCelta

“We have prepared for this match the same way. Celta play the same against Manchester United, Betis or Granada. They always play the same. They have an idea of play and a very good foundation worked by a coach who has managed to provide them with a style of play which is very recognisable to Celta. Regardless of the players who will be in action tomorrow at La Rosaleda, Celta are a striking, solid and identifiable team, which is why they’re at the level they’re at in Europe and LaLiga”.

Changes to the line-up

“It’s something that we do regularly. Looking at the characteristics of the rival and what we need to do, we change the players according to our needs”.

Wingers

“One of the qualities a winger must have, and why we use them, is to open up the pitch and look for the shot towards the target. Through that, we get people in the area. In the most recent games, the arrivals of Fornals, Recio, from the wing to the other side and upfront is fundamental. If you don’t finish the play with a pass you are allowing the rival to get you in a strange situation. In addition, Ontiveros, as with the other wingers, passes very well.

MCF Academy

“We’re seeing some stand-out players. We need coaches who believe in these guys as they have great quality. I look at the Málaga players with the pre-season in mind, and moving up the ranks. I focus on two issues, first their quality and footballing performance, and second their commitment to being part of the youth ranks and playing in the first team”.
