“I think in the first half, we gave good measure. We sought situations in which we could have caused damage, in play between the lines and approaches from outside. As play continued, particularly in the initial 25 minutes of the second half, we lost the thread. We lost a lot of balls and were incapable of getting out of situations that compromised us, with second plays and lateral shots. From there we conceded a goal and the match became complicated”.
Lack of accuracy
“At times, we were able to sink our teeth into the match. There were situations that could have been resolved with a good cross or shot, but we weren’t precise enough. In the final 20 minutes of the game we had more presence and arrival possibilities. However, we lacked more accuracy and continuity in this type of action. Their second plays after clearance became a solution for us to regain the ball some 70 metres back, which forced us to make a big effort”.
Continuity
“I believe we lacked continuity of play, above all, in something where we shine, in possession and positions, which allows us to attack more. In the first half, we had three or four dangerous situations that could have culminated in goal, especially with Juanpi. In the second half, it was more of a struggle. Until we conceded the goal, the team didn’t have any continuity of play as they didn’t have the ball. Eibar create danger from the wings, and by piling on the pressure. They don’t need to go too far back. They steal possession, cross and have the possibility of converting. I don’t think the physical aspect influenced the game too much. We were certainly present”.
Crosses to the area
“You can take the ball to a position where you can make a cross, but in the end, it’s a decision of the player against the ball. Clearly, many of the situations that occur you want to get to that stage, but we’re lacking that definition and will not stop trying until we get it. We made eight or nine crosses, which nearly all landed in the keeper’s hands”.
Fans’ support
“The people are not disenchanted, as they filled the stadium. We may have had a bad result, but the fans are not crestfallen. They never leave us, even in circumstances with many changes to the team or style. I’m sure that the fans trust in us, after this result, more than we think”.
