Míchel: “I'm really enjoying it; long may it continue"

The Málaga coach highlights the work of his team: “We showed strength and made numerous approaches”. “Over and above the victories, this is the idea for the team for next season”.

Idea for the team

“We are paying the penance for having an irregular season. The team is doing very well. Beyond the gameplay is the confidence the players have shown. The guys never give up because they believe in themselves a great deal. Playing a match like we did here tonight can only be achieved with this type of behaviour and belief. It’s a good path to follow for next year. Over and above the victories we accumulate, this is the idea for the team for next season”.

Forcefulness

“I think, in a way, the Sevilla coach is right. We were somewhat forceful, but that forms part of the gameplay. Perhaps on other occasions we showed more variety on our arrivals to the rival goal area, but I think in order to score four goals, you also need to approach. Netting four goals against Sevilla, it’s true that we were forceful, but it’s also a fact that we made numerous approaches”.

Enjoyment

“We’re all delighted. As much as I understand the fans’ unrest throughout the season, I’ve really enjoyed the past month and a half I’ve been here. Long may it continue”.

Sandro

“We already know what type of player Sandro is. He made the difference yet again. The other day I talked about salary, I’ll light some candles and see if it comes true”!

Moving up

“I’ve been telling the players over the past three matchdays that it’s an incentive to reach as high as possible. Today we had another boost. We’re now closer to direct rival, Celta de Vigo, who we’re competing against next weekend. Although I’d like to halt the players, they're in a difficult situation at the moment, and I’m not going to be the one to tell them they don’t have options. There are nine points left in play and we’re competing for them. That’s very good for us”.

Fans

“I lived this match like the fans. I still don’t know the hymn, I would have sung it otherwise. The fans have had a rough time this year, so now they deserve this enjoyment”.
