Marcelo Romero: “These are great matches to win”

The Málaga CF coach highlights the fans’ unconditional support: “When the fans push the team you notice it; they really get behind them”.

Important victory

“The team continues to show that they’re playing well, at a high level of competition. They managed the match well against a very tough team, who like to play football and who have some quality players. Tonight, we had the little bit of luck I’ve been talking about, as in when the ball hit the post and was saved by Kameni. I’m delighted with this victory”.

La Rosaleda

“They’re not easy, but these are great matches to win. The fans had their share of participation tonight, when they push the team you notice it; they really get behind them. It’s important that we stay strong at La Rosaleda. Both the fans and the players know that La Rosaleda must remain a difficult ground for any visiting rival”.

Victory and good gameplay

“It was unfortunate that José Rodríguez was sent off. In regards to Camacho, we’ll look for another style of play in this zone for the next match. When you don’t win but are playing well, you need a victory to certify the team’s strong gameplay. Again, you could see tonight that the team wants to play well and dominate ball possession. We tried to approach the area and create danger. Beyond the result, I’m thrilled because the team are continuing along the same line. Regardless of who plays, the team maintains the same level”.

Distance from the relegation zone

“We don’t need to look so far down the table. It’s certainly the case that having a 10-point gap gives you great peace of mind. Being eight points ahead of Leganés, who are just above the red zone, is important. It brings a sense of calm ahead of the next match, but we cannot relax. LaLiga is a little crazy. We must take the necessary precautions in order to claim as many points as possible to stay calm and continue our line of work”.

Good moment for the team

Keko is getting better all the time. The more matches he plays, the better he becomes, physically. Jony is also performing well, as are all the players who get on the pitch. Everyone is in a very sweet moment, which is why it’s tough trying to select the starting-11, as well as the list of called-up players”.

Believing in hard work

“When you start coaching a team and you don’t win matches, it becomes difficult. The support from the family and the sense of calm they convey to you is important. We’ve all had a weight lifted that we’ve been carrying now for several games. We’re believing in the work we’re doing and in the team, and are aware of the responsibility we have and must work with it”.
