Málaga veterans performing at full throttle

The Association of Ex Málaga Footballers, who have recently begun their competition this season in the ‘Liga Lúdica’, are hoping to continue growing on a national, and also European level.

On a sporting level, last weekend the ‘Malaguista’ veterans took part in the 3rd ‘Liga Lúdica’ match of the season, defeating Fuengirola by 4-0 at Cártama Sports City.  The goal-scorers were Antonio Vegas, Lorenzo Zúñiga and two from Luis Merino.  Following three matches, the veterans have won 7 of the 9 points in play.

The ‘Malaguista’ squad, with coaches including Emilio Pérez, Carlos Villar, Antonio Hierro and José Luis Burgueña, is also made up of well-known names such as Pepe Salguero, ‘Koke’ Contreras, Raúl Iznata, Juanito Gutiérrez and Fernando Escribano, and many more.  Recently retired Manolo Gaspar and Nacho Pérez Santamaría could also join the team shortly.

President of the ‘Malaguista’ association, Ernesto Terrón comments: “We take the name of the Club all over the province.  We’ve also travelled outside Spain, to Portugal, and in September we were in Denmark.  We’ve undertaken two children’s camps in the past two years, and hope to do more, with the aim of placing the veterans on the highest possible level both nationally and in Europe.”
