Luis Hernández strengthens the Málaga defence

Luis Hernández Rodríguez joins Málaga CF for the remainder of 2016/17 and the following three seasons. The versatile right-back, from English side, Leicester City, will wear the number ‘24’ shirt with his new team.

Luis Hernández, 1’83 metres tall and weighing 76 kilos, was formed in Real Madrid CF’s youth ranks. In the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons, he played for Real Madrid Castilla. In 2012 he made the move to Real Sporting de Gijón, competing for one season with the Asturians’ reserve team, and later debuting with the first team in 2012/13 in the Second Division.

Following a year of consolidation with the Gijón team, in 2014/15 he was a basic defensive pillar in Sporting’s promotion to LaLiga. Last season he was again a key player in the Asturian team’s permanency in the category, standing out for his poise and solidity in defence. Reigning Premier League champions, Leicester City FC signed him last summer. He took part in four League matches with the English club, and another four in the UEFA Champions League this current 2016/17 season.
