Málaga Club de Fútbol’s expansion throughout the province continues, with the sixth official store being inaugurated tomorrow, Friday 19th December. Located in the Rincón de la Victoria commercial centre, this new store will have the official collection of team strips and ‘Malaguista’ merchandise available to fans.

Málaga CF paid tribute to José Navarrete Antiñolo tonight, the first Málaga-born referee to reach the First Division. This was in 1970/71, and he remained in the top category of Spanish football for eight seasons, paving the way for other Málaga-born referees who later also made it to the First Division.

Representatives from Málaga Club de Fútbol and Real Club Celta de Vigo enjoyed the traditional pre-match lunch at Restaurante Godoy, in Málaga’s Muelle 1. Blue and Whites’ Club director general, Vicente Casado was present, along with deputy director general, Manuel Novo; sporting director, Mario Husillos; and Club adviser, Francisco Martín Aguilar. They were accompanied by Celta de Vigo president, Carlos Mouriño; vice president, Pedro Posada; and adviser, Antonio Rosendo.

A number of official events will be held before and during the BBVA League match taking place tomorrow at 10 p.m. between Málaga Club de Fútbol and Real Celta de Vigo at La Rosaleda. The first, as part of the dedicated ‘Women’s Match’ is the presentation of Club Atlético Málaga to the ‘Malaguista’ fans. Just before kick-off, a minute’s silence will be held in memory of Federico Brinkmann and Juan Mora Font, the former president, and ex Club Deportivo Málaga player respectively, who both recently passed away. During half-time, the Martiricos Club will pay tribute to José Navarrete Antiñolo, the first Málaga-born referee to reach the First Division.

Málaga CF organised the traditional Christmas lunch with journalists who regularly cover the Club’s daily activities, in the VIP area of La Rosaleda stadium. Director general, Vicente Casado; deputy director general, Manuel Novo; sports director, Mario Husillos; and Club advisers, Antonio Benítez, Abdallah Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar represented the Blue and Whites’ entity at today’s Christmas lunch, prepared by Catering Doña Francisquita.

As part of its extensive charity work, the Málaga CF Foundation is joining forces with some of the busiest soup kitchens in the province to undertake a massive food collection. The Martiricos Club is giving 2,000 tickets away for the return leg of the Copa del Rey knockout round match against Deportivo (18th December, 10 p.m.) in the ‘tribuna’ and ‘preferencia’ sections of the stadium, as an incentive for ‘Malaguistas’ to donate food.

Directors, players, the first and second team coaches, and all other members of staff at the Martiricos Club enjoyed Christmas lunch today in Finca La Tosca (Churriana), where everyone made a toast to the Blue and Whites.

The Málaga CF Foundation, and the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) presented a series of events at La Rosaleda today, to raise funds for research into the fight against cancer. Roque Santa Cruz was the ambassador of this initiative, and wore one of the new pink ‘Malaguista’ charity shirts, which along with a ticket for the Málaga CF – Celta de Vigo match, are available for just 20 euros at the stadium’s ticket offices.
