The biographer of Club Deportivo and Málaga Club de Fútbol passed away this week at 83 years of age, but his work, anecdotes and his contribution to the Blue and Whites will live on forever. Juan Cortés was the only one to tell the Málaga story of a sport with which he will always be a part of.

Samu Castillejo (Barcelona, 18/01/95) this morning signed his new contract with Málaga Club de Fútbol, until the 2017/18 season: “I’m thrilled to be a part of my home team. I’d like to thank my family, friends and everyone who has always believed in me, like Antonio Benítez and Ben Barek”.

Málaga Club de Fútbol sends deepest condolences to the family and friends of Juan Cortés, who passed away this afternoon aged 83. Cortés was a dedicated journalist who played a fundamental role in the development of ‘Malagueño’ footballing history, under all of Málaga’s team names. General Secretary and manager of CD Málaga, Juan Cortés knew better than anyone how to transmit the ‘Malaguista’ history due to his amazing memory. It’s because of this, and Málaga CF’s deep sense of loss following the death of Juan Cortés, that he will remain an eternal part of Blue and Whites’ history.

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Málaga’s Provincial Government presented the II Children’s Day today, taking place on Sunday to coincide with Málaga CF’s match against Rayo Vallecano. Tickets for this game are priced at 5 euros for children, and there are numerous events taking place throughout the week aimed at youngsters. Club advisers, Francisco Martín Aguilar, Antonio Benítez and Ben Barek attended today’s press conference, along with Provincial Culture and Sports Delegate, Juan Jesús Bernal.

At the Ciudad de Málaga athletics stadium this morning, Málaga Club de Fútbol and the Professional Football League (LFP) presented the agreement with sponsor, Sockatyes for the ‘Malaguistas’ to wear the Asian brand on their team socks for two seasons.

During half-time of the clash between Málaga Club de Fútbol and Granada Club de Fútbol, the Blue and Whites recognised the recently named European championship runner-up shot putter, Borja Vivas. Club adviser, Ben Barek, on behalf of the Martirico outfit, presented the Málaga-born athlete with a commemorative plaque.

The first meeting of the Technical Commission in charge of determining the schedule for works to begin on Málaga Club de Fútbol’s future ‘Sports City’ in Arraijanal, took place this morning at La Rosaleda. The willingness of all parties has enabled a commitment over the Club’s expectations with regard to time frames. Over the next month and a half, the City Hall will present the reports required by the Junta de Andalucia. It is therefore hoped that the definitive approval of the ‘Special Plan’ will be confirmed in December. Following the two-hour meeting, representatives from the Junta de Andalucía, Málaga City Hall and Málaga Club de Fútbol all agreed the outcome was positive.
