Last Sunday, Portuguese-born Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente 'Duda' became the player who has taken part in the highest number of official matches with Málaga Club de Fútbol, totalling 292. Therefore, before tomorrow night’s Copa del Rey quarter-final tie kicks off against Athletic Club, the Martiricos outfit will recognise the team captain’s record during his 11th season with Málaga Club de Fútbol, as his career so far has led to him becoming one of the Club’s historic players.

Málaga Club de Fútbol mourns the death of former CD Málaga player during the 1969/70 and 1970/71 seasons, Eduardo Beigveder. The Málaga-born midfielder was with the team when they achieved First Division promotion in 1969/70, even though he didn’t get to play a match. He did however get on the pitch the following season, taking part in three games, two of which he was in the starting-11, under Hungarian-born coach, Jeno Kalmar.
