La Rosaleda knows how to stop Simeone’s Atleti

The Argentine coach has only clinched one victory out of his team’s five visits to the Malaguista stadium. Míchel also knows what it’s like to defeat Simeone’s Atleti.

La Rosaleda stadium will host Club Atlético de Madrid on Saturday (20:45) for the 29th LaLiga Santander match. Past results are flattering for Málaga CF at the Malaguista stadium, with one victory, one defeat and three draws since Simeone has headed up the Madrid rival. Curiously, the Argentine’s first match as Atlético coach was at Martiricos (0-0, 2011/12 season).

Maximum equality against one of the most powerful teams in LaLiga and indeed Europe. Without going so far afield, the last clash between these rivals took place at La Rosaleda, ending in a Malaguista victory (1-0) with a goal from Charles.

First team coach, Míchel González, also knows what it’s like to surprise ‘Cholo’s’ Atleti. Two seasons ago he defeated the Red and Whites (3-2) in the group stage of the Champions League when he was coach of Greek side, Olympiacos, with whom he reached the last-16 in the biggest competition on the continent.

Málaga CF always competes against the ‘Colchonero’ rival, and this Saturday will step on to the pitch with the clear aim of winning the three points. In addition, La Rosaleda will house a capacity crowd to welcome the Madrid-based rival, so the fans will be fundamental in achieving the objective.
