“The team was very well-positioned on the pitch, it was a tricky match as we knew we’d be up against a difficult rival. It was also a significant game for the fans as well as us, but we’re thrilled that the three well-deserved points are staying in Málaga”.
Rematch following the first round
“We were still suffering with the thorn from the first round match, as we were all quite hurt leaving their ground. I think we knew what we had to do tonight, as we were aware of the level of the rival team, and personally and collectively, the team was spectacular. The view is that we’ve been idiots because we had a superb squad all along, and although we took our time getting there, better late than never. Looking towards next season, we need to try and finish this year as high up the table as possible, to return the fans’ support they’ve shown us all season”.
The goal
“I was confident Sandro would net the goal, but I went in for the rebound and found the ball. I’m very happy with the three points. Every day Pablo brings more to the team and is really growing as a player, and with regard to Sandro, there’s not much to say as in every game he shows what a fantastic player he is, and we’re all going to try and convince him to stay here for a long time”.
