Duda: “We achieved our objective with many matches remaining”

Málaga CF first team captain, Sergio Paulo Barbosa Valente ‘Duda’ speaks to MCFTV about the season coming to an end, where the objectives set by the Club have been reached.

Objective fulfilled

“We’re going for the ninth season in the First Division.  We’re climbing year after year, achieving our goals, and we hope next year we’ll form another great squad, reach our objectives as soon as possible and continue to grow, which is the most important thing.”

The best season

“Each season has its history, but if I had to choose one it would be when we were competing in the Champions League.”

2015/16 season

“We didn’t get off to a great start to this campaign, but at the beginning of the season we set the objective of permanency, and I think we’ve had a brilliant year.  We achieved the objective, practically speaking, with many matches remaining, and it’s a shame we didn’t achieve more, but we really gave our all.  There are three games left and we’re going to fight to end the season in the highest position possible.”

Levante, first and second round matches

“They’re playing for their lives in order to achieve permanency, but we want to claim the three points for our fans and move up the table, so we can fight from here until the end to finish as high up as possible.  My goal in the first round?  More important than the goal was the victory, as we weren’t going through a good run, and were able to move up.”

Man of the Club

“I’ve enjoyed everything at this Club, achieving all objectives you can achieve, and I’m delighted to have done so.  I feel capable of being part of this team, we’ve never had any problems and I hope I can continue to enjoy being part of the Club, which is like home to me.”
