Cop, Filipenko, Juanpi and Mikel in action with their national teams

Various Malaguista players were on international duty this Friday 27th May. Cop won with Croatia, whilst Filipenko (Belarus), Juanpi and Mikel (Venezuela) lost.

Duje Cop | Croatia

The striker came in during the second half of the friendly held in Koprivnica between Croatia and Moldova, a preparation match ahead of the upcoming Euro championships.  The game ended in a win for Croatia (1-0, Kramaric).  Cop came on after half-time, playing for 45 minutes.

Egor Filipenko | Belarus

The central was in the starting-11 and played for the entire friendly, held in Belfast between Northern Ireland and Belarus.  The match ended in a local victory by 3-0, with goals from Laffertty, Washington and Grigg.

Juanpi Añor and Mikel Villanueva | Venezuela

Venezuela’s third out of four friendly preparation matches for the Copa America Centenario 2016 – with three Malaguistas in the line-up – took place in the early hours of the morning.  The ‘Vinotinto’ side lost by 2-1 to Costa Rica, who were the hosts in San José, with Juanpi Añor in the starting line-up and playing for 90 minutes.  The Malaguista number ‘11’ started off the 0-1 lead, the work of former Blue and Whites’ player, Rondón, and had a clear opportunity to score.  The ‘Ticos’ overcame the initial goal, thanks to Gamboa and Ariel Rodríguez.  Mikel Villanueva left the bench in the final stage of the match (minute 77), in place of left-back, Feltscher.  Rosales wasn’t called-up.
