“They showed an interest in me that gave me a great deal of confidence, which was what helped me decide to come here. This is my first experience in Europe, there’d a period of adaptation for me, and I hope to affront it in the best way I can as I can’t wait to get started”.
Proximity
“Demichelis gave me a lot of confidence, and I also liked Arnau’s interest in finalising the operation quickly; I’ve seen many videos of the coach, he’s great, and I hope to take a big step forward here at this Club”.
Versatility
“I’m a midfielder who can adapt to any position in the centre of the pitch. I’m raring to go and be the best I can possibly be. I’m here to do a job, I know the Club trusts in me and I’ll give my all from day one. I have a little more vocation on the attack, but I’ll be wherever the coach needs me to be”.
Gameplay
“I liked it a lot when Fernando Gago was here, I also faced him in Argentinean football and I like aspects of his gameplay. He’s one of my idols and I tried to watch him a lot so I could continue learning from him”.
Arnau: “It’s a joy to have you here”
Sports director, Francesc Arnau accompanied Cecchini during his presentation and analysed several current sporting topics.
(Signing) “It’s a joy to have ‘Ema’ here, it was a very quick operation, and the negotiation with both him and the Club has been very transparent. He had Italian teams showing interest, but luckily, we have him here. This is an investment made by the Entity in a young player, a little in reaction to the departure of Pablo Fornals and payment of his clause”.
(Market) “This market was going to test us, but we followed the plan, except in the case of central defender, Jorge Meré, who found a better offer. In regard to Pablo Fornals, we started negotiations in April, but didn’t reach an agreement. We resumed talks in the month of June, apart from one last attempt; we tried everything for him to stay, but it wasn’t possible. Villarreal were detached from a player, and thought of Pablo to pay his clause”.
(Characteristics of Cecchini) “He’s a versatile footballer in midfield, he can adapt with two or three pivots. Usually he plays more upfront, although in Argentina he played more like our number ‘6’. He also complies with the coach’s requests, who likes players who are able to adapt to different positions”.
(Resources) “I close ranks with Málaga Club de Fútbol, with my president, my coach and even my sports director. My only concern now is to bring the best possible players so we can have a team to enjoy the entire season. We’re missing a central, a defensive midfielder and a striker, but we’re working hard and still have time in the market. We have many open possibilities, and we’re trying to maintain patience to reach the end of August when we’ll have our squad. We have the resources and capability to react”.
