Both teams have already locked horns in the Second Division, in the 2005/06 season.  In the 19th match, Málaga CF “B” lost by 1-2 to CD Castellón on 8th January 2006 – the last game with Juan Carlos Añón as coach of the reserve team.  In the 40th match of the season, Málaga CF “B” secured a draw (2-2) at the Castalia stadium, held on 4th June 2006.

This will be the ninth time Atlético Malagueño (Malaga CF “B”) will play in the Valencian Community.  On previous occasions they came up against CD Castellón, Olimpic de Xátiva, Hércules CF, Levante UD (2 times) and Elche CF (3 times).

Statements | Manel Ruano

“Castellón are an historic team, that all the fans and city get behind.  In the last game there were 9,000 fans at the stadium.  They’ve been in the First Division, and are an historic Club, but we won’t let this bring us down.  This tie has every incentive to be tough and open.  We’re very young, but are extremely keen to move up, despite not having any pressure or obligation to do so.”
