The Academy

Calzado, Ruano, Pellicer and Iznata make up the current structure of the Academy

From today, 1st July, Miguel Ángel Calzado heads up the Academy, whilst Manel Ruano and Sergio Pellicer renew with Atlético Malagueño and Juvenil División de Honor respectively. Raúl Iznata is the new coordinator of Málaga CF’s women’s squad.

Miguel Ángel Calzado, who up to now was in charge of Sevilla FC’s grassroots football catchment area, is now heading up the day-to-day running of Málaga CF’S Academy, due to Manel Casanova’s absence because of ill-health.  Although despite this, Casanova is still the coordinator of the Blue and Whites’ Academy.

Francisco Manel Ruano will remain at the helm of the Blue and Whites’ reserve team for a second consecutive season.  The team finished in second place in Third Division Group 9 last season, and took part in the Second Division B promotion play-offs.

Serio Pellicer will also continue for a second season as coach of the first Malaguista youth team.  They made history this season by winning the Champions Cup of Spain.  In addition, the ‘juveniles’ claimed the title of league runners-up in Group 4 of the División de Honor juvenil.

Málaga CF women’s squad

Raúl Iznata, ex-Malaguista player and coach of MCF’s Liga Nacional Juvenil during 2015/16, is now the head of coordination of Málaga CF’s women’s squad, and coach of their first team.

The Blue and Whites’ women’s squad – which yesterday reached the 25-year mark in the former denomination of Atlético Málaga – is made up of three teams (senior, reserve and ‘cadete’).  They were incorporated into the structure of Málaga CF during the last General Shareholders’ Meeting.
