Antonio Contreras (Olivenza, Badajoz, 19th July 1977) will be the new Málaga CF Femenino coach for next season, to bring a new impetus to the Club’s exciting project. The coach will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday at 17:00 at La Rosaleda stadium, accompanied by Hamyan Al Thani, CEO of Málaga CF Femenino.

Contreras comes to Málaga CF with a lengthy football career behind him. He began his journey in women’s football by heading up CF Puebla in 2004, where he remained for four seasons competing in the top flight, and reaching a final of the Copa SM Reina. From 2008 until 2011, he was in charge of Atlético de Madrid Féminas. His coaching career continued at Levante UD Femenino, where he stayed until 2015. Beyond the Spanish borders, the Extremadura-born coach passed through the ranks of the Arsenal Ladies coaching staff.

In addition, the new Malaguista women’s coach, who is always learning and developing the latest techniques in training elite football teams, was selected to assist, along with another four coaches from Extremadura, in various training sessions of Newcastle United FC under Rafa Benítez, to see first-hand the Spanish coach’s methodology at the head of a Premier League side, and also the structure of the Club’s grassroots (The Academy). This all took place over a week in the English club’s sports city in Benton.
