Teams in Málaga CF’s youth categories performed well in tournaments held over the past few days.

Málaga Club de Fútbol have reached an agreement with Manel Ruano, in which the La Academia manager and ex Málaga CF player takes the reins of the Blue and White reserve team that currently plays in the Third Division, and where he will be working with many plays he has helped train in the youth squads over the last four years.

Málaga Club de Fútbol and José Manuel Casanova have reached an agreement for the current sports coordinator of Málaga CF’s youth ranks to continue in his post in charge of La Academia for another season.

Málaga CF’s ‘alevín’ team is heading to Villarreal (Castellón) to take part in this weekend’s XXII Liga Promises National Tournament, organised by the LFP and El Larguero Foundation.

A selection of under-20s from La Academia are on the way to Austria to take part in this prestigious international youth football tournament as from tomorrow.

Official competition is now over for all La Academia teams, as the ‘Alevin’ boys were knocked out of the Andalucían Clubs’ Championships in the quarter-finals. There was a good performance in the post-season tournaments, particularly in the Azpeitia Cup with the ‘Alevínes’ proclaimed champions, along with the ‘Infantiles’ in the III R1 Cup. Málaga Club de Fútbol’s youth academy is like a garden that has been growing in recent years to supply first team players who have developed in Málaga. Up to six reserve team players are currently in the ‘Malaguista’ first team, and we chat to La Academia coordinator, Manel Casanova; Club advisers and reserve team experts, Antonio Benítez and Ben Barek; as well as protagonists, Samu Castillejo and Recio, to give us their version of the ‘Málaga CF trademark’.
