Clear victory for Málaga CF in first match of pre-season (1-5)

Málaga Club de Fútbol defeated Adelaide United FC by 1-5 in the first match of the pre-season for Javi Gracia’s men. A Malik own goal put the Blue and Whites in front in the first half. Following numerous changes to the line-up in the second half, the ‘Malaguistas’ increased their lead with goals from Pablo Pérez, Luis Alberto and two from Juanmi. Djite scored the only goal for the Australian side, in a match in which the ‘Malaguistas’ left a good impression.

Málaga Club de Fútbol’s starting-11 for this first game of the pre-season had few new faces.  However Ricardo Horta was selected, along with Samu Castillejo, whilst Carlos Kameni was in goal.

The Blue and Whites took the initiative from the start, particularly during the first 15 minutes.  Pressure upfront caused the home side to make several errors, allowing the Blue and Whites to generate scoring opportunities.  Samu Castillejo, one of the most active players in the match for the first 45 minutes, didn’t take advantage of a mistake made by the local keeper following pressure from Duda.  Ricardo Horta also missed a goal after a promising assist from Roque Santa Cruz.

The first goal of the game arrived after 17 minutes.  Samu Castillejo was again taking centre stage as he attempted to gain possession following a Duda corner kick, but it was Malik who sent the ball into the back of the net, to put the Blue and Whites 0-1 in the lead thanks to an own goal.

Coach, Javi Gracia changed nearly the entire team in the second half.  Only Weligton remained, and Cousillas, Rosales, Angeleri, Casado, Recio, Pablo Pérez, Luis Alberto, Juanpi, Juanmi and Rescaldani joined the game.

The changes to the ‘Malaguista’ line-up soon began to take effect, against Adelaide United FC who couldn’t overcome the mighty Málaga CF, despite a strong determination.  Pablo Pérez put his team 0-2 in the lead with a goal from in front of the area, and Luis Alberto scored the best goal of the match as he masterfully transformed a free kick from outside the area into goal number three (0-3).

The local team got on the scoreboard with a goal from Djite just outside the six-yard box.  However their joy was short-lived as an impressive counter-attack from Juanmi, following a good display from Rosales and Pablo Pérez, led to the Coín-born striker putting Málaga CF 1-4 up.  Juanmi scored again thanks to assistance from Juanpi.  Málaga were now 1-5 in the lead.

Following their first match of the LFP World Challenge in Australia, Málaga Club de Fútbol is heading to Perth tomorrow, Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s match at 3 p.m. (9 a.m. in mainland Spain).
