‘La Bombonera’, Málaga′s anthem is recognised by every blue and white supporter; it was officially created on 10th August 1973. Until then, even though songs were offered, the Club representing the City of Málaga did not have an official anthem in its thirty-two year history. `Málaga alirón´, composed by Antonio Mata Gómez and sung by Los Paquiros, was an alternative song that could have filled the gap longed for by fans, but the executive counsel headed up by Rafael Serrano Carvajal rejected it and finally opted for ‘La Bombonera’.

The teacher Posada y Borriño was put in charge of putting together the harmonies to what would become the Málaga anthem. The choir and voices of the Military Band sang the words of Celeda and Tenorio. The pasodoble won the hearts of Málaga Football Club fans and they did not allow one of its icons and heritage to disappear with the club in 1992.

When Atlético Malagueño adopted the name of Málaga Football Club on June 29th 1994, by popular demand ‘La Bombonera’ continued to echo the value of its blue and white colours when the Martiricos team was stretched, forever linking the history of Club Deportivo Málaga with that of Málaga Football Club through the music.

Málaga Football Club would like to acknowledge the historical references of Maestro D. Juan Cortés
